ScriptNotes#816

Y

Situation: I export my script to a PDF, send it to a producer who imports the PDF into his software (FinalDraft) and makes some ScriptNotes, before exporting it to a .fdx and sending it back to me.

There needs to be a better workflow? How can I import the .fdx and see the producer’s ScriptNotes? I don’t want to have to move to FinalDraft, but if industry standard for notes on a screenplay runs through FinalDraft…

Hi Yeshuda! We have a great workflow to help with this very situation. You can add the producer as a collaborator on your script in Arc Studio as a “Guest” so he doesn’t even have to create an Arc Studio account. He’ll get sent an email with a link to your script and can easily leave comments on it via his web browser.

Plus you can add him as “Read Only” so he can read and leave comments on your script without being able to edit the script.

You can find out more in our Collaboration & Feedback guide: https://help.arcstudiopro.com/guides/collaboration-feedback

Yes, but what is the workflow if they are already sending a .fdx with ScriptNotes? How can I view that in Arc Studio? I want to import it “over” my current project to the see the notes they made on the original PDF I exported.

Final Draft’s ScriptNotes aren’t compatible with Arc Studio. If you have further questions you can email support@arcstudiopro.com
